When using stainless steel grips, tips and backstems (tubes) there is alot to consider. 1st & most important, they must be steralised properly. This procedure requires an ultrasonic cleaner (not a cheap jewellery cleaner), an autoclave, autoclave pouches, tip cleaning brushes, & allen keys. Not only will you need all these tools you will also need cleaning solutions such as alcanox, liquinox, ultrasonic (gpc) etc used in the ultrasonics. Madaclenz plus, bleech, ulcajet, luminox etc used as pre-soak and cleaners.
When soaking your tools make sure you take the grub skrew in the grip completely out, soak your tools in a high quality surgical grade 316L stainless steel kidney dish or bowl. The cleaning agent you use should specify in the directions how long to soak for and what temerature to clean with. It will never say clean with hot this will conjeal the blood. After soaking tools use your tip cleaning brush and scrub the inside thoroughly.
Now they will need to be cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner. Your ultrasonic cleaner should be able to heat water, again set the temperature to the temperature specified by the cleaning agent. Alcanox is a very popular cleaning agent to use. Refer to your ultrasonic cleaners user manual for a specified time to run the ultrasonic.
After cleaning with your ultrasonic, whilst wearing latex gloves rinse them well. Dry them thoroughly, ensure there is no moisture left before placing them in individual autoclave pouches. Don't put the grub screw back in the grip yet, they go in the same pouch as the grip. Now they're ready to be autoclaved.
