Tattoo Aftercare How to care for your tattoo.

The tattoo below is the result of  following our healing procedure. No creams what so ever were used.

Have you got a new tattoo or thinking about getting a tattoo and want to know how to care for it. There are many different theories on what to do, creams to use etc.

There are all sorts of creams people recommend and use to heal tattoo's.
Many people believe because creams are extremely good for hydrating skin and healing burns and abrasions they will be great for tattoo's. The fact is Most creams contain antiseptics and healing agents. Antiseptics will draw body fluids to the surface forming scab to aid healing however this usually brings pigment with it causing fading and in some cases damaging the tattoo.

Tattoos have been healed without the use of creams for decades. For the best results you should wash your tattoo in cool to luke warm water not hot. Hot water and steam can damage the tattoo. Wash with a soft soap using your hand not a cloth and be gentle harsh rubbing can also damage the tattoo. When drying do not rub dry, pat the area lightly. Rubbing the tattoo dry can be abbrasive. You can do this upto 4 times a day.

Be cautious of your tattoo by avoiding the sun, don't go to the beech salt in the water will cause a chunky scab, do not scratch or pick when healing, your tattoo will get itchy when its almost healed. This is natural there is no need to apply cream.

Once the tattoo has healed and is finished peeling, you can apply creams. Keeping the area shaved and using a cream is a great way to keep your tattoo looking bright and new.

  1. I am completely agree with you. Creams are usually sticky and irritates with their smell. They take too much time in absorbing. That's why I use and recommend Marlowe's Aftercare Lotion. It absorbs quickly and start working with the first use. Its hundred percent safe as it had been tested for over 8 years before marketing. Other traditional ways for protection are using the Coconut Oil and keeping the tattoo clean and safe from the scratches.
